What we publish

Objective manufacturer and model information: product family, category, action, chambering, dimensions, unloaded weight, materials, factory configuration, manufacturer-listed variants, and warranty. We do not publish MSRP: manufacturers list one, but it changes without notice and independently of the specification, so recording it would mean publishing a figure that goes stale silently. We do not publish assembly or modification instructions.

Source order

1. Current official manufacturer product page.
2. Current owner’s manual, catalog, or technical sheet.
3. Manufacturer press release or archived official page.
4. Other sources only when clearly labeled and necessary to explain a discrepancy.

Verification states

Research queue means a model has been scoped but its fields are not ready to present as verified fact. Verified will require a source URL and access date. Conflicts remain visible in notes until resolved.

Variants and compatibility

MOS, short-frame, state-compliant, and similar configurations are modeled as variants where appropriate. Future compatibility claims will be published only when a manufacturer explicitly states them; appearance or platform naming is never treated as proof.

Authorship

Everything here is published by Guns Unpacked as an organization. No record, comparison, or article carries a personal byline, and none is planned. That is a deliberate policy rather than an omission, and the reason is the same one that governs the rest of this page: nothing published here is expert opinion, and a byline would claim a kind of authority this directory does not rely on. A specification is true because a named manufacturer document published it on a stated date, not because of who transcribed it — so the citation is the credential, and it travels with the value rather than sitting in an author box at the top of the page.

What stands in place of a byline is meant to be stronger than one: every figure carries its source URL, the date that source was checked, and the evidence tier the source sits in; every record shows when it was last verified; disagreements between sources are disclosed rather than resolved silently; fields no source publishes stay blank; and anyone can submit evidence that changes a record. Structured data on this site reflects the same policy — articles name Guns Unpacked as both author and publisher, and no Person is claimed anywhere.

Editorial interpretation, where it appears, is labeled as such and kept apart from the manufacturer-published fields. Where a question needs professional judgement — legal, safety, training, medical, or fit — this directory says so and declines to answer rather than borrowing authority it has not established.

Corrections

Readers and manufacturers can submit evidence-backed corrections. Accepted changes will eventually appear in a public record history. Legal information is informational only and requires independent professional review.
